Whither Thou Goest (1988-) (from the Holy Bible, Book Of Ruth 16-17) |
|

|
Note : This song
appeared in 88 and 93 tours. It was sung as a goodbye, with all the
band, without instruments. It is derived from the Holy Bible (Book of
Ruth, 16-17). Ruth, a widow Moabite, wants to follow in Judah her widow
mother-in-law Naomi. No matter if she looses her roots, her God, her
people. Then "Whither thou goest I will go...whither thou diest, I
will die". These Holy words became for men wedding words and a
wedding song (Song of Ruth). It is sung here by the band as a parting
song, for his public. |

I hope I don't offend any atheists if I
bestow upon you the ancient priestly benediction which binds a generation
one to another. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord shine
his radiance upon you. May the Lord turn his face toward you and grant you
the blessings of peace. Peace my friends. |

I want to tell you how grateful we all are
up here for this extremely warm reception that you've given us tonight. I
want to thank you personally, not just for tonight but for all the years
that you've shown attention to my songs. I want to thank you for that.
There's a few lines that are in the Bible in the Book of Ruth, and it
speaks of people parting and people who are always with each other,
regardless of where they go. It is those lines: "Whither thou goest, I will
go....." |
